The committee "Ñemityra" was formed from the initiative of Señora Buenaventura. They are indigenous women who make up part of a community in the city of Villa Ygatimi. They are currently in their first loan cycle. There are eleven members and thanks to the opportunity that they have received from the foundation, these women have been able to launch a business and help their families.

Buenaventura is the president of the group and she tells us that she breeds animals for a living, such as hens, pigs, goats and other kinds of animals. She says that it is a very difficult job and that it requires a lot of strength - not just physical but also mental. She is very happy with what she is doing because she knows that thanks to this job she will help her family.

Buenaventura is requesting the loan to buy food for the animals she is breeding because she does not want to be left without stock.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
