Ali is a forty-seven-year-old Lebanese married man. He lives with his wife and five children who are all attending school. He strives to work really hard in order to satisfy his family's needs.
After twenty-four years of experience as a carpenter, Ali decided to open his own carpentry shop in 1997. He’s a reputable man who has gained a fair number of loyal customers. In parallel, he has been working as a painter on a free-lance basis since 2006. Today, he is asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase the needed quantity of wood for his work. He notes that this will improve his business thus boost his productivity. In the future, he plans to take on bigger projects outside the country.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
