Khaled is a 33-year-old married man who lives with his wife and only one school-aged child. He’s looking to support his family and pay his child’s educational fees. Khaled has owned a stone quarry/factory since 2007. In parallel, he has been working to perform needed maintenance on apartments on request. Today, he’s asking to make a loan from Kiva Partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase additional materials for his business, such as stone, metal, cement, and many others. He notes that this will develop his business and return to him in higher earnings. In the future, he plans to expand his business and take on bigger projects.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
