Choan, age 46, is a humble farmer living in Pouk district of Siem Reap province. She has a life partnership with her husband who dedicates his time to animal trading around the province. She now has 5 children. One among them has started a new family and lives independently.
At this time, Choan would like to take out a loan from HKL and Kiva to purchase a used motorcycle for the household's use. Moreover, this motorcycle will enable her husband to go further to distant areas to trade his animals. In the future, Choan hopes that she’ll be able to continually provide her children a good education.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
