Ath is a 47-year-old married woman who has been residing in Prey Chor district, Kompong Cham province. She has been blessed with 6 children: 3 are married and 3 are single. Ath presently works as a local farmer. She cultivates her rice crops with a plentiful of harvest in both rainy season and dry season every year because there is a main source of water from the nearby river.
She is now asking for some funds from HKL and Kiva to buy cashew nuts in bulk from a local plantation to stock for future sale. She hopes that she will be able to make a good profit from her investment. For her prospect, she wants to expand her business and ensure a comfortable living for her children.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
