This group is made up of 9 members and is run by a committee which is headed by their President, Madelinne. The businesses run by the Communal Association members are quite varied and include: a local shop, mobile phone sales, and cosmetic sales.

Madelinne tells us that this is her fourth cycle with Pro Mujer and that she joined the institution by invitation from a promoter. Currently she is running a local shop and has been doing so for many years now.

She is applying for this loan to be able to increase her stock (to buy general groceries) which she will purchase within her community and later sell them in her place of business. This work allows her to earn more for her family - she lives with her partner and 2 children.

When asked, she tells us that she likes Pro Mujer and she likes the healthcare support she also receives from them.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
