It is made up of nine members and is led by a board of directors chaired by Sra. Lourdes. The members engage in a variety of businesses such as: shoe sales, a meat market, flower sales, ice cream sales, clothing sales, a cafeteria and sweater sales.

Sra. Lourdes notes that this is the first time she has worked with Pro Mujer and that she joined the institution on the invitation of a promoter. Currently she has a business selling footwear and has had it for some time.

The loan that she will take out is to increase her capital to buy footwear she will acquire from distributors and later market in her commercial space. This type of work enables her to generate resources to support her family. She is married and has five children.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
