Ayoko
A married mother of five children, Ms. Ayoko A. has also taken in her two younger sisters as apprentices. Having not gone to school, she earns her living through the production and sale of “gari” (cassava flour). As someone who appreciates a job well done, she takes great care in the fabrication of gari, which endows her product with a high level of quality. And her gari, which is highly esteemed, sells very well at the market. The demand has become great, as wealthy women come all the way from Lomé to buy it. Today, she no longer has the means to meet the high demand for her product. She is requesting a loan of $650 to buy cassava in large quantity and produce gari.

Despite the fact that she is illiterate, she is gifted with an understanding and a mastery of managing credit. She anticipates increasing her production capacity of gari and selling it at the markets in the region, which will give her the ability to better meet the needs of her family.
