Aida says that this is the sixth year she has been working at Pro Mujer. She joined the institution at a friend's invitation. Currently she has a business selling sportswear, in which she has been working for years, having learned it from her mother.

The loan she will take out now is to increase her working capital for purchase of the sportswear, which she acquires from the wholesalers and then sells at her stand. This type of work allows her to generate income for supporting her family, as she is in a common-law relationship and has three children.

When you ask her what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the meetings and the health clinic. Aida is not shown in the photo, as she needed to get back to her place of work quickly.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
