Dorah lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is widowed with two children, and both of her children go to school. She operates a beauty salon on a retail basis. She sells her products in a shop that she rents. She works seven days a week. She has been in this business for the last four years.
She has requested a loan of 600,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO to buy a hair dryer, braids and weaves. Her major business challenges are electricity and seasonality. Her goals and aspirations are to own a fully stocked beauty salon and also to build a house. She lives in a rented house where the family has access to electricity but does not have access to piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees, medication and rent.
