Mrs. Run, 53, is from Kompong Cham province. She has been residing and working there for ages. She has worked in agriculture for over 20 years, carrying out back-breaking jobs for low wages because she didn’t get a good education. Presently, she has run a small selling business to serve the people in her commune. She sells many items like household things, biscuit, soft drink, etc. She now is a mother of 5 children.
Mrs. Run needed this loan to purchase stock of merchandise and expand her store. In the future, she wants to continue and expand her business gradually.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
