Talca is in the Maule Region, which is located in the central area of the country. It is the administrative, economic, and cultural center of the region, as it is the most important city in Chile's Central Valley. There is a curious saying about Talca in Chile, which is "Talca, Paris, and London." One of the theories about this saying is that it comes from something originally said by an Englishman, "Talca looks like London." This is because of all the fog that often covers the city in winter, much like the capital of the United Kingdom.
