Reina De Los Angeles

Reina is requesting a loan of CRC 500,000 to buy two milk cows for producing cheese and other dairy products which she will sell in the community where she lives and also in nearby towns.

Reina es una mujer de 63 años de edad, vive con su familia en una comunidad llamada Upala que pertenece a la provincia de Alajuela, localidad que se caracteriza por sus parques nacionales, su extensa variedad en la flora y en la fauna y por tener un clima caliente, lo que permite la producción de ciertas frutas que se desarrollan con más fuerza en este tipo de clima, como el mango, el melón y otros propios de la zona.

Reina se dedica a la ganadería desde hace 30 años, con esta actividad han salido adelante ella y su familia, y le han podido hacer frente a los gastos diarios de su hogar.

Actualmente Reina está solicitando un crédito por ¢500.000 para comprar dos vacas de ordeño, para producir queso y otros lácteos que posteriormente venderá a la comunidad donde vive y lugares aledaños.

Reina es miembro de la Empresa de Crédito Colonia Puntarenas S.A, este será su tercer préstamo, razón por la cual está muy agradecida por las oportunidades de acceso al crédito que esta le brinda y poder llevar a cabo sus proyectos de vida.

Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides.
