Casria is from Panduma, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur. She is 46 years old, married, and has two children. Casria makes her living running a general store, selling a variety of food and home products in the local community. She has been in this business for ten years and earns 3,000 PHP a month for her work.
Casria is requesting a loan of 7,500 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. In 2008, she joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her business and living situation. She plans to save the additional revenue generated from the loan as a reserve for future emergencies.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
