Abibatou is 39 years old and lives in Benin. Abibatou has never attended school. Abibatou is married to Moussèdikou; together they have four children, all of whom attend school and are dependents. In addition to their children, the couple takes care of another child as well.
Abibatou lives together with her children and her husband. Abibatou and her husband both provide for the numerous household necessities. In order to take care of these needs, Abibatou sells food essentials (corn, beans, rice, flour) in a Benin market. Abibatou stocks up in a Benin town and also in the surrounding region. Thanks to her profits, Abibatou is able to assuage the many expenses of her household.
In order to satisfy the needs of her ever-growing clientele, Abibatou is asking for her second loan via ALIDé. The loan Abibatou previously received was properly repaid.
Abibatou n’a jamais fréquenté l’école.
Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.
Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
