Ivan Kirilov
In 1989, after the fall of communism in Bulgaria, Ivan began to drive a taxi.  He initially began working for another company, although several years ago was able to put together enough money for his own car and strike out on his own.  He now is a member of a cab co-op, which allows Ivan to work for himself, while having the infrastructure he would enjoy working for a larger company; the co-op provides its members with centralized dispatch, discounted repair and maintenance, and other services.   He is in need, however, at this point of a new car.  He has found a used Opel Astra for approx. $4,000, which fits his needs nicely.  This loan will fund half the cost, while he will be using his own cash for the remaining cost.  He has two children, one of whom is currently taking an auto mechanics course (which may come in handy at some point for dad…)   His wife is a seamstress and his daughter is still in school.  The S. family lives in Sliven, Bulgaria.
