59-year-old Soeun is a mother of ten children. However, she has responsibility only for her two children who are still in school as some of her children are factory workers and some are helping her in the current business, rice farming. She has been with this business for 20 years to feed this big family and she earns about US$6 per day.
Soeun joined VisionFund in 2011 and successfully repaid back her loan which has made her make a better living. Now she is requesting a new loan in second cycle in amount of KHR 3,000,000. She will use this loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to build a new latrine. She hopes to earn more income and continue in improving her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
