Judi Maribel
Judi has always been known as a hard-worker who is devoted to her family’s well-being. She has been working in her sewing business for approximately eight years, and she is recognized for the good quality of her products. Judi previously worked in a seamstress shop. Judi hopes that this way she will be able to continue working without any inconvenience at her shop. She hopes that she will be able to continue improving her business. Judi dreams of her husband and her son having a better quality of live and financial stability. She also dreams of her shop growing and being able to generate employment for mothers who are heads of their households and have no work opportunities.

Judi siempre se ha caracterizado por ser muy trabajadora y dedicada al bienestar de su familia. Desde hace aproximadamente 8 años trabaja en la actividad de la confección y es reconocida por la buena calidad de sus productos. Judi anteriormente trabajaba en un taller de confección, y su jefe le propuso que se independizara que el le otorgaba un lote de trabajo para que así tuviese mayores ganancias. Judi entonces montó su propio taller de confección donde con un gran esfuerzo ha conseguido la maquinaria necesaria. Cuenta con dos grandes clientes, los cuales le realizan grandes cantidades de pedidos, por lo que Judi siempre ha tenido un buen volumen de trabajo. Debido a que una de las máquinas con las que trabaja Judi hace un fuerte ruido, quiere hacerle el mantenimiento respectivo a la máquina. De esta manera podrá mejorar las condiciones en las que trabaja, sin embargo, no cuenta con el capital suficiente para realizar este mantenimiento, por lo que busca que un préstamo le brinde la posibilidad de acceder a realizar el mantenimiento de una de sus máquinas de confección.

Judi espera que de esta manera pueda seguir trabajando sin inconvenientes en su taller y pueda seguir mejorando su negocio. Judi sueña con que su esposo y su hijo tengan una mejor calidad de vida y puedan tener una estabilidad económica. Además, sueña con que su taller crezca y pueda generar empleo para madres cabeza de familia que no tengan oportunidades laborales.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
