Freddy Manuel
Señor Freddy is a man who very much likes to work. He enjoys his daily labor. Now he lives in the city of Ica, a place characterized by its intense sun throughout the entire year, and so it is acclaimed as the "Tierra del Sol" (land of the sun) by all the Iqueños (citizens of Ica). This city is also known for the exports that it sends to the world; among its most well-known products are artichokes and asparagus. In the course of the last five years, Ica has developed enormously with the opening of new commercial centers that have allowed the generation of new and better jobs.

To be able to advance and generate the income that he needs, Freddy offers carpentry services, making and offering maintenance for doors, chairs, and tables, among other furniture. He works at this business approximately 10 hours a day, time in which he usually serves one customer, since he is very meticulous in his work and is always eager to offer better products to his customers. He also works as a plumber, which allows him to have some extra income. Freddy has success in his business because he has become known in the zone where he lives. He learned from a master carpenter; unfortunately he died a year ago and Freddy still feels very grieved by his loss.

With the help of the Kiva lenders, Freddy will be able to purchase a special machine for his carpentry work, and with it he will be able to serve his customers more rapidly. Thus with much effort he will be known not only in his zone but also in other areas. He is confident that his effort and dedication will lead him to have a well-equipped carpentry shop and, in its turn, his own house.
