Kirui is the father of two children, both aged below two years and has been in farming for ten years.
His farm is currently run with the help of one farmhand and produces milk and tea, which he sells locally. He says farming has been the source of livelihood for him and his family for the ten years that he has been active in this business.
He has requested a loan of 40,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy a dairy cow. He says this will improve his farming income and help him build a good foundation for his children. He adds he will also acquire more capital to improve his farming business.
However, he says lack of capital, coupled with poor local markets is a big limitation to farmers.
