A widow in a village of the Thmor Koul district, Chamroeun is a 38-year-old mother of only one daughter. Her daughter is still in school. She earns a living through growing rice on her own four-hectare farmland and planting corn on her own plantation. She has been in this business for five years. With her current business, she manages to earn more than KHR 100,000 per day to make a living but saves only around KHR 40,000 each day.

Chamroeun leads a group of four members. She is a first cycle client with VisionFund. Now requesting a loan with VisionFund, she will use this loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes to earn more income to set aside some money to buy another plot of farmland to extend her farmland.

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
