Vann
Mr. Vann is 37 years old and a lovely father of five children, living in Prey Chor district. He is a local farmer who cultivates rice crops together with his wife for their livelihood. As usual, the income from rice husbandry is not really enough to satisfy the family’s needs, so Vann also spends some time going through the village to sell his shaken coconut juice to generate additional revenue. Presently, Vann’s house is under construction and Vann needs more funds from HKL and Kiva in order to complete the remaining parts. He hopes to have a nice house, which will provide his family a comfortable living soon.

About HKL

Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
