Elena is 58 years old. She lives in the village of Ilemi, West Georgia, with her husband Omar and sister in law. The latter gets social assistance for socially vulnerable people from the government. Elena and Omar are running a family agricultural business, which is the only source of income for the family. They have two milk-producing cows, through which they make cheese and sell on average 40 kilograms of cheese per month in the local market. They also have 20 sheep and they sell lamb as well as cheese produced from sheep milk.
Elena is requesting credit for purchasing a dairy cow. The family will be able to increase production and sales of cheese by 50%. And this will help raise the family income and improve their living conditions.
