Kalumu is a married woman with five children, two of whom are enrolled in school. Her husband is a businessman who contributes to the family income. Kaluma owns a house that has neither electricity nor running water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for her family and school fees for her children.
Kalumu has operated a goat-meat business for the past 10 years. Her potential clients are her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality. She dreams of expanding her business.
With the Kshs 50,000 she wants to purchase more goats for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access funds to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
