Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Kalumu's story

Kalumu is a married woman with five children, two of whom are enrolled in school. Her husband is a businessman who contributes to the family income. Kaluma owns a house that has neither electricity nor running water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for her family and school fees for her children.

Kalumu has operated a goat-meat business for the past 10 years. Her potential clients are her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality. She dreams of expanding her business.

With the Kshs 50,000 she wants to purchase more goats for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access funds to boost her business.
