Nubia Rosa
Nubia is a very hard-working person and always wants to provide the best quality of life to her husband and two children. Due to the limited employment opportunities available to her husband, and the little income he was bringing home for this reason, Nubia decided to set up a fast food business outside of one of the city's universities. Since then, Nubia has contributed to the household income, collaborating with her husband on expenses incurred.

Nubia has many good clients, which has caused her income to increase considerably. Nonetheless, the winter has brought down sales because she doesn't have a tent for cover, only a plastic sheet that keeps out a little of the rain. In an effort to reverse this situation, Nubia is turning to a loan in the hope that it will provide an opportunity to purchase a tent for protection from rain as well as to buy supplies for preparation of meals. Nubia hopes that this will result in a considerable increase in income, since sales won't be so affected by the rainy season.

Nubia dreams that her business will allow her to offer her children a quality education and access to a university education as well as improve quality of life for her husband, her children and herself.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
