Ibtisam is a 50-year-old Lebanese widow living with her only child, who is working. She works really hard to be able to offer a suitable life for her child. In 2007, she decided to open her own coffee shop. She was really lucky to open her shop in such a location because it’s a place where all people meet. Today, she’s asking for a loan of $1600 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase needed provisions for her shop such as tea, sugar, Nescafe, and many other items. This investment will improve her business and allow her to serve a wider range of people. In the future, she plans to open new branches in different areas.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
