Jaime Andres
Enterprising is the best way to describe Jaime, a young man who has decided to seek his own livelihood and who wants his parents to have a better quality of life. For these reasons he works very hard every day to generate a good income so he can help his parents with the household expenses.

Jaime has been selling merchandise such as clothing, linens, appliances and other products for 5 years. He sells door to door in his town. Thanks to this activity, Jaime generates enough income to support the household where he lives with both his parents. Jaime currently has large orders from his customers so he needs to purchase merchandise to fill those orders, however, he doesn't have the capital since his customers pay him when they receive their merchandise and sometimes, they make several payments. Jaime is hoping that a loan will give him the opportunity to buy products such as linens, clothing, appliances and other merchandise to sell to his customers.

Jaime hopes that with the purchase of this merchandise his customers will remain satisfied and his sales will continue to significantly increase. In addition, he dreams that with a higher income he will be able to secure a better quality of life for his parents.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
