Mohammad is a 35-year-old married Lebanese man. He lives with his wife and two children who are still attending school. Even though his wife is working, he is the main source of income for the family. Mohammad decided to start his own business in 2009, so he opened a barber shop as well as a gym. Today, he hopes to borrow $3000 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to buy new barbers' tools and additional sports machines for the gym. This Kiva loan will allow him to attract more customers and therefore increase his revenues. In the future, he plans to take more Kiva loans and better develop his business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
