Hel O., 54, is a mother of three children and works as farmer growing a variety of vegetables and raising pigs. She normally earns $2.66 a day. Her husband works as house builder, earning around $1.66 a day. Two of their daughters are garment workers in Phnom Penh City earning about $70 each a month. Their son is married and lives away from home. To improve her business, Hel O. is requesting a $300 loan to purchase a motor-bike for transporting pigs to sell in other villages.
