Bilkis is a 31-year-old married woman with two children who are enrolled in school. Her husband is a businessman who contributes to the provisions of the family's basic needs. She owns a house with electricity but no piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for her family and school fees for her children.
Bilkis has operated a food stall for the past five years. Her potential clients are the local area residents. She faces a major challenge of seasonality. She dreams of establishing a new line of business in the future.
With the KSHS 40,000, she wants to purchase more stocks of rice, maize flour, wheat flour, beans and cooking oil for her business. She decided to join Yehu to access funds to improve her living standards.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
