Luis currently works as a bricklayer, building homes and other buildings. He works approximately eight hours a week and is able to serve one or two clients per day. He works hard, and he believes that it is going very well for him because he does good work, and because he goes door to door and to construction sites to offer his services. Clients know him and recommend his services.
Luis is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, since thanks to your help he will be able to build a room. His home is inadequate at the moment, and his little son gets sick often in the winter months. With this improvement, he will be able to offer his son a better quality of life as well as security for their whole family. Luis will continue to work very hard because he wants to achieve one of his dearest dreams: "To give my son a good education and to be a contractor on big projects."

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
