View original language description ↓

Bertha is 41 years old and studied up until 5th grade in school. She has 4 children but only 2 still depend on her. They live in the Trujillo district of La Libertad. For the last 8 years she has worked selling clothing for women, men and children. She began with very little demand, sometimes only a few requests from her neighbors. Today she has a greater variety of garments to offer, and she travels around various areas of the city to sell to her clients.

Bertha is part of the communal bank called Mujeres Decididas, from whom she received her first loan to travel to Lima to purchase clothing. With this loan, which she will repay in 4 months, she will purchase womans and mens shirts, as well as seasonal garments for summer such as shorts. Bertha dreams of one day renting a stand in a shopping area in the city of Trujillo.
