Rizk is a 49-year-old married, Lebanese man, who lives with his wife and three school-aged children. He’s hoping to earn money and enhance his family’s way of life.
Even with all the complications he may have faced, Rizk was brave and didn’t hesitate to open his own business. He started to work as a blacksmith and painter in 1990. He’s a reputable person and has gained a fair number of customers so far.
Now, he’s looking to borrow $2500 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to buy additional tools and paints for his business, in order to attract more customers and increase his profits. In the future, he plans to take more Kiva loans and renovate his shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
