A resident in a rural area of the Kang Meas district of Cambodia, Maly is now 34 years old and married with two dependent sons who are still in school. She is a farmer who has been growing rice twice per year as the family’s main source of income for 11 years. Selling rice is another source of income to support her living.
Maly is a second-cycle client with VisionFund. She earns 6 USD per day from her current business. With good business, she is applying for another loan to buy more rice to grind for sale. She hopes to increase her rice business and improve her lifestyle and also keep her sons in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
