Maria Ligia es una persona que ha tenido que pasar por muchas adversidades en su vida. Vive en su hogar con su hija, debido a que el padre de su hija las abandonó hace un tiempo. Maria Ligia siempre ha tenido en su hija una fuente de inspiración, y gracias a esto trabaja todos los días fuertemente con el ánimo de sacarla adelante. Desde entonces, Maria Ligia se ha rebuscado con diferentes actividades el sustento necesario para sostener los gastos de su hogar, y a pesar de que sus ingresos son muy bajos, le alcanza para cubrir las necesidades básicas de su hija. Maria Ligia sueña con que su hija pueda acceder a una buena educación, y en un futuro a una educación universitaria que le permita obtener un empleo bien remunerado.
Maria Ligia actualmente se dedica a la venta de productos como bolis (congelados), gaseosas, cervezas, entre otros productos, y gracias a esto genera los ingresos necesarios. Con el ánimo de que sus ventas aumenten, Maria Ligia requiere de la compra de más mercancía para su negocio, sin embargo, actualmente no cuenta con el capital suficiente para ello. This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
