Albalina Del Carmen
Señora Albalina, together with her family, is a resident of the municipality of Ticuantepe. Her plans for her family are to finish construction on their home. Señora Albalina is very happy about the help being offered by Afodenic through Kiva. With her first loan, she was able to close off the plank wall she had. Now she needs financing to be able to tile her little house. Currently, the house is earthen and she doesn't have enough money to purchase the tile. Señora Albalina works as a domestic servant in a private home and her husband sells chickens, and so they only make enough to barely cover their household expenses.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
