Kheaiv is the loving mother of four teenage children who are no longer in school. Two of her children are working as garment factory workers, and they each contribute some of their income to help meet the family’s daily expenses. Her husband is a fisherman who works along a local river.

Kheaiv is a local farmer in the Baray district of Kompong Tom province where she has planted her crops for many years. Besides this, she often sells the fish that her husband caught or she buys from other fishermen. She currently earns an average of $1.40 a day.

Because she lacks extra capital to improve her farming capacity during the dry season, Kheaiv is asking for a 700 USD loan from HKL. She will use it to buy a water pump, fertilizer and seeds for planting.
