Mohammad is a 33-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and four children, who are all studying. He cooperates with his wife to pay their children’s educational fees. She sells clothes from her home. As for Mohammad, he decided to open his own vehicle repair shop in 2001, after 15 years of experience in this domain. In parallel, he transports students with his own school bus. Today, he’s in need of a loan of 1,300 USD from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase added mechanical equipment for his shop. This Kiva loan will certainly develop his business and help him attract new customers. In the future, he plans to take more Kiva loans and improve his garage.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
