Evaline is aged 38 and married with 5 children between the ages of 15 and 7 years. She has been farming for 14 years and currently employs one farmhand on her farm. She sells her products of milk, tea and eggs to the local market.
Evaline has requested a loan of 20,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help her boost her poultry business by buying more birds and thus produce more eggs for the local market. She adds that the loan will enable her to meet the basic family requirements with much ease.
She laments the high cost of acquiring capital to do heavy commercial farming, but reiterates the benefits of Juhudi Kilimo's loan services.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
