Sara María
Sara is a 55-year old woman who lives with her husband Glovio and their two children who attend school. They live in the neighbourhood of Las Mercedes in the rural area of Santo Domingo which is a canton in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, one of Ecuador’s most densely populated provinces. It attracts many visitors as there are several monuments in the capital city including the Monumento al Indio Colorado. Santo Domingo is a privileged canton because of its wonderful, hardworking and enterprising people. They work tirelessly to get on in life and always welcome tourists with open arms, keen to show them their wonderful culture and local sights.

Sara and her husband raise and sell animals for a living. Their daily work is hard as in the countryside there are always lots of chores which require a great physical effort. The two of them have overcome many obstacles including a disease which killed almost all their animals. However, they always picked themselves up and carried on so they could support their family properly.

Sara wants to buy some chickens as the demand for them has increased. Two years ago she obtained a group loan from Fundación Alternativa. She paid her dues on time, and now she and her husband are looking for a second loan. She has always been a woman who could overcome problems, and we are certain that Sara will do well with this venture and achieve her goal of earning more money.
