San Miguel Arcangel Group
Isidora is the president of the group. She says that she sells “chipa” (similar to bread and a very typical food in Paraguay). She goes to sell in her neighborhood every day. She says that it is exhausting work, but she really likes what she does because it is dignified and decent work. Her goal is to be able to continue growing and supporting her household.
That is why she is requesting the loan to buy corn flour, starch, butter, eggs, anise, and the rest of the ingredients that she needs to make the chipas that she sells every day.
La sra Isidora, es Presidenta del grupo, ella comenta que se dedica a la venta de chipa (similar al pan, alimento muy típico en Paraguay) que a diario sale a vender por el barrio. Comenta que es un trabajo muy agotador, pero que igual le gusta mucho lo que hace, puesto que es un trabajo digno y decoroso. Su meta es poder seguir creciendo y seguir manteniendo su hogar, es por ello que solicita el crédito, para la compra de harina de maíz, almidón, manteca, huevos, anís y demás insumos necesarios para elaborar las chipas que vende a diario.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
