Josue
Josué is a 21 year old man who lives with his family in the community of Osa, located in Caña Blancal in the province of Puntarenas. This community is known as a rural area frequently visited for its beaches. Its main sources of income are tourism, farming, and cattle.


He has the motivation and help of his relatives which help him continue on in life. It is very important to him that he finish paying off his car. The demand for his taxi services is always increasing and his neighbors in the community have been pleased with the service he provides.


Josué is asking for a loan of 500,000 colones to cancel his car loan, to get to work every day, and for car maintenance. Josué is a member of the Community Credit Union of Caña Blancal, one of 150 organizations forming EDESA in Costa Rica. He hopes to grow personally and economically with this loan. He pointed out that, thanks to these types of loan providers, he can dedicate more of his time to productive activities.

Josué es un señor de 21 años de edad el cual vive con su familia, en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal esto en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus playas. Sus principales actividades económicas son las turísticas y agropecuarias.

El tiene la motivación y la ayuda de sus familiares, lo cual le facilita seguir con su vida. Además le es muy importante finalizar el pago de este medio de transporte, ya que la demanda es cada vez más fuerte y los vecinos de la comunidad se han sentido satisfechos con el servicio brindado.

Lo que en estos momentos solicita Josué es un micro crédito de ¢500,000(quinientos mil colones), para comprar cancelar la deuda de su automóvil, para movilizarse a su trabajo todos los días, y para dar el mejor mantenimiento y asistencia posible a su proyecto.

Josué es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 150 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Con este préstamo se espera crecer más a nivel personal y económico. También destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede dedicar más tiempo a las actividades productivas.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
