A loan of $2,625 helped to purchase land for a store.

Galina's story

Galina lives and works in the Velikaya Znamenka village. She has a husband and two adult daughters. Galina is involved in selling spare parts for agricultural machinery. Her husband actively helps her with this business because he knows machinery very well. They have been working in this field for 11 years. Galina plans to invest money, received from Kiva, into a purchase of a land plot for a store. She has already reached an agreement with the village council to purchase the land and plans to complete this transaction prior to the New Year's, while the laws remain unchanged. The land, that Galina wants to purchase, is located in the center of Znamenka, right across from the market, with practically all village stores surrounding it. There, Galina and her husband plan to continue selling auto parts for farm machinery, but also want to build a small kiosk nearby to sell food products. Galina hopes that this deal will happen, and that the land will belong to them because then they would not longer have to pay for a large lease, and no one would be able to take away their land or force them out.
