Evelyn is from Calabayan, Ozamiz City. She is 45 years old, married, and has four adult children.
Evelyn plants, harvests and sells "saging" (bananas) for their living. She's been in her business for 16 years and earns 5,000 PHP a month.
In 2008, Evelyn joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Evelyn is requesting a new loan of 10,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional seeds, seedlings & young crops to raise. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family and to purchase their daily needs.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
