A rural villager located in the Tbaung Khmum district, Noeun is a 41 year-old mother of two dependent children. She and her husband have been farming on her farmland and planting cassava as a main income source for twenty years. With her current business, Noeun earns US$5 per day and is able to save US$2.5 daily.
With a lack of money for her business, Noeun is applying for her first loan with VisionFund. She will use this loan to hire workers to harvest her rice crops and cassava. This loan will enable her to harvest her crops timely, ready them for consumption, sell them to better support her living and set aside some money for the future.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
