“Divino Niño Jesús” (Divine Christ Child) is the name of a group of women that was formed in the city of Itá, thanks to one of its members who contacted a consultant to find out how the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs Program worked. Once they received information about the program, they were able to gather a group of 15 women. They are working well in their ninth loan cycle as a bonded and united group in this program.

One of the members is Sra. Dina, who says that she sells all types of garments such as shirts, trousers, t-shirts, and other items. Dina indicates that she has done very well because the products she sells are of good quality, her service is friendly, and the prices she offers are affordable. The loan she is requesting will be used to buy shirts, trousers, t-shirts, and other garments so that she can restock her inventory and satisfy the demand of her customers.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
