Margarita is from Sto. Niño, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur. She is 40 years old, married, and has three school-aged children.
To make a living, Margarita owns and operates a fruit business, selling a variety of fruits products in the local community. Margarita has been engaged in her business for over 8 years and earns approximately 16,000 PHP a month.
In 2011, Margarita joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Margarita is requesting a loan of 20,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional fruit to sell. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
