The Fifagbe 2 group consists of four people who live in the same neighborhood. This is the fourth time that this group is requesting financial aid from ALIDé, in order to elevate the level of their business.

The representative of the group, by the name of Germaine, is the one who has her hand raised in the photo. Germaine is 32 years old and lives in Bénin. Germaine stopped school at the primary level. Germaine does not live with her husband anymore. Germaine is mother to two children who both go to school and are under her care. Germaine lives alone with her children. Germaine takes care of the diverse household responsibilities alone.

In order to meet her needs and those of her children, Germaine has been managing a business selling food products (corn etc.) and charcoal in her neighborhood for about ten years. Germaine gets her supplies in a market of Bénin.

In order to satisfy her clientèle and to grow her turnover and her income, Germaine is requesting a fourth loan from ALIDé, together with the other members of the Fifagbe 2 group. The first three loans were well repaid.

Le groupe FIFAGBE 2 est composé de quatre personnes qui résident dans le même quartier. C'est la quatrième fois que ce groupe sollicite l'aide financier de ALIDé, afin d'élever le niveau de son activité. La représentante du groupe, du nom de Germaine est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Germaine est âgée de 32 ans et vit au Bénin. Germaine a arrêté l’école au niveau primaire. Germaine ne vit plus avec son mari. Germaine es t mère de deux enfants tous scolarisés et à sa charge. Germaine vit seule avec ses enfants. Germaine assure seule les diverses charges de la maison. Afin de subvenir à ses besoins et à ceux de ses enfants, Germaine mène comme activité depuis une dizaine d’année, la vente de produits vivriers (maïs etc..) et des charbons de bois dans son quartier. Germaine s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour accroître son chiffre d’affaires et son revenu, Germaine sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe FIFAGBE 2, un quatrième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Les trois premiers prêts ont été bien remboursés.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
