Kurbongul S. resides in the Abdurahmon Jomi district in Tajikistan. She is 41 years old, single and has 2 children. Kurbongul has a high school degree and no professional degree. For the last three years she has been selling groceries at the local market. She brings her goods from Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, where she purchases them from wholesalers. Kurbongul is planning to use the loan money to increase the assortment of goods she can offer at her market stand. Since she is not married, the whole burden of supporting a family lies on her shoulders and her business allows her to feed her children. The goods she sells at her stand allow the locals to purchase the necessary groceries cheaply and without having to leave their town. Kurbongul is planning to pay back the loan in the next 12 months.
