This is the fourth time that this group is seeking financial support from ALIDé in order to increase the level of their activity.

Roberte Henriette is 53 years old and widowed. She is the mother of two children, one of them still in school and her dependent.She left school at secondary level. She has been selling canned goods, alcohol and condiments in her neighborhood for the last twelve years. She buys her products in a market in Benin.

In order to increase her stock and to better meet her customers demand, Roberte Henriette, together with the other members of L’oeil de Dieu, would like to get a fourth loan from ALIDé. The first three loans have been fully repaid.

Le groupe L’ŒIL DE DIEU est formé de trois personnes qui résident dans un même quartier. La représentante de ce groupe, nommée Roberte Henriette, est celle dont la main est levée sur la photo. C’est la quatrième fois que ce groupe sollicite l’appui financier d’ALIDé en vue d’élever le niveau de leur activité. Roberte Henriette est âgée de 53 ans et est une veuve. Roberte Henriette est mère de deux enfants dont un scolarisé et un reste à sa charge. Roberte Henriette a arrêté l’école au niveau secondaire. Il y a douze ans, Roberte Henriette vend des conserves, des liqueurs et des condiments dans son quartier. Roberte Henriette achète ses produits dans un marché du Bénin. Dans le but d’augmenter le stock de ses produits et de mieux répondre à la demande de sa clientèle, Roberte Henriette désire obtenir un quatrième crédit auprès de ALIDé, ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe L’ŒIL DE DIEU. Les trois premiers crédits ont été bien remboursés.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
